IS AFRIVENTURE FOR ME?
Whether you are a solo traveler, a couple, a family or a group of friends, AfriVenture is for the adventurous traveler who wants freedom, flexibility and memories. We take care of everything, give you a deeper understanding of Africa and bring you to all of the hidden gems.
We are an intimate team that has a true desire to offer authentic adventures.
We are not the cheapest out there and we don't aim to be. We consider ourselves better value than others as we always include more and give a more personal experience.
If you are looking for an all inclusive adventure with high quality services and great comfort, then you are definitely in the right place.
IS IT OK IF I AM A SOLO TRAVELLER?
Yes, of course! You may join one of our scheduled departures. AfriVenture is a great way of making new friends and meeting new travelers who wish to explore the same destination as you. You may find yourself sharing a room with a traveling companion (only of the same gender). However, if you do not feel comfortable doing this, you are more than welcome to add on a single supplement. Please enquire about our scheduled departures.
WHO WILL I BE TRAVELLING WITH? WILL THERE BE A GUIDE?
On our private tours, you will be travelling with your personal group and your professional AfriVenture guide.
As for our scheduled departures, you will always find yourself with a mix of nationalities of like-minded individuals wanting to share experiences and discover Africa in its most authentic way.
HOW FIT MUST I BE?
Our itineraries are filled with an array of adventure activities, including hikes, cycling, jungle trekking, canoeing and so on. As long as you are an active person, you will love traveling with us.
Deposit and Invoicing
Once your booking is accepted, AfriVenture will send you confirmation. Please refer to this confirmation for details regarding final payments.
Invoices are issued on booking confirmation.
For Uganda bookings, a non-refundable $600 is required in order to secure your Gorilla Permit ($700 from July 2020) as well as a Chimpanzee Permit of $150 ($200 from July 2020)
20% payment is required to confirm your booking
You will not be able to start a tour without payment being in full. AfriVenture reserves the right to cancel a booking and to charge the cancellation fees if a booking is not fully paid in advance.
100% payment is required 45 days prior to the departure date
If you cancel a booking, fees will apply. A cancellation of a tour booking needs to be done in writing and will only be effective once received and acknowledged by AfriVenture. The date on which AfriVenture receives the correspondence will determine the cancellation charge.
If you cancel a trip:
* The 20% deposit will be allocated for you to use within 12 months of the date of cancellation. Gorilla Permit is non-refundable due to the permit being reserved under your name.
> 45 days or more to departure: No fees apply*
44 – 30 days to departure: 50% of the tour price is held as cancellation*
29 – 15 days to departure: 75% of the tour price is held as cancellation*
14 – 3 days to departure: 90% of the tour price is held as cancellation*
2 – 0 days to departure: 100% of the tour price is held as cancellation*
Do I need travel insurance?
Yes! Comprehensive Travel insurance is compulsory for all AfriVenture travelers and a
copy will need to be provided on the first day of your trip. Without this, you will not be able to join the trip.
Do I need a visa?
Depending on the country you are visiting, you will need a visa of entry. Before your trip, make sure you check with the country's Embassy as visa rules change without warning.
Do I need a valid passport?
Your passport needs to be valid for 6 months after your departure date from Africa and
you must have at least 2 blank pages available.
Do I need to be concerned about safety?
Safety of our travellers is always of our highest importance. We monitor the political situations and make sure that every place we go to is safe. Safety on tour is through mitigating risks, vehicle checks, guides training, and having safety measures for emergencies.
Do I need malaria pills & vaccinations?
Depending on the country you are visiting, there may be compulsory vaccinations, an example of this is usually the Yellow Fever Vaccination.
Please see your local doctor for details and advice about the current requirements as well the area specific malaria risks, prevention and prophylaxis.
What must I bring with me?
A comprehensive checklist will be sent to you prior to your departure, but remember, "less is more".
Can I book a pre & post night accomodation?
Of course! We usually offer the same property as our point of departure and arrival in order to make life easier for you. These are specifically chosen due to there great locations.

What kind of meals will be served? Is it ok if I have special dietary requirements?
Food is a big deal when it comes to AfriVenture. We want you to have a real taste of Africa and enjoy the local cuisines. We cater a mix of both western and local food on tour.
We do our best to cater for all dietary requirements, including vegetarians, vegans and food allergies. Please mention these at the time of booking so we can be prepared for the special requirement.
Will I get any free time?
Yes of course! Our itineraries being focused on immersive experiences, we give you non-stop adventure but make sure you get the right mix of activities and relaxation.
Where will I be staying?
All our accomodation is unique to the region and extremely comfortable. Due to the nature of our incredible activities, we undertand the importance of a good bed and a great nights rest. On some occassions, we may feature a local homestay. These have all been checked for adequate quality and will never compromise any comfort - it will only add life long experiences.
Will there be WiFi?
Due to our tours being all throughout Africa, we cannot guarentee Wi-Fi 100% of the time. That said, most of our lodges have WiFi and hot spots zones. That said, this is Africa and sometimes Wi-Fi can be intermittent due to the off the beaten track locations. Alternatively, you can get a local SIM card if needed, upon your arrival. Our guide will help you once you arrive in the country of your tour.
Will I need to tip?
Though not compulsory, it is common practice to tip a service of around 10% throughout Africa. This is largely for restaurant staff, helpers, cleaners, local guides and so on. Your professional AfriVenture guide may also be tipped at your descretion.
